It was limited time but some retailers were still selling the codes. 1. Yes i know that but what i mean is the v-bucks were for a limited time on the codes. So even tho they were still being sold the v-bucks weren't in the bundle anymore. Pretty sure someone posted about it on here a few weeks ago. It is a digital good, that you can't resell, that will go away when inevitably the servers get shut down for Fortnite. It is all cosmetic not impacting your overall gameplay enjoyment or skill of the game. I would say if you look at it objectively yes it is a waste of money. For me I don't mind buying v-bucks every now and then though.
